HONOUR FOR BANGLADESH: SHAKIB AL HASAN INDUCTED IN MCC WORLD CRICKET COMMITTEE

Bangladesh’s Test captain and ICC top all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to attend MCC’s meeting at Sydney on January 10 and the cricketer said that it will provide him with an opportunity to voice Bangladesh's concerns and problems to the cricketing world at large.

Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan said on Thursday that he was excited to get a chance to attend the prestigious MCC World Cricket Committee meeting, scheduled to be held on January 9 and 10 at Sydney in Australia.

Sakib, who has been appointed as a member of World Cricket Committee of Marylebone Cricket Club effective October 1 last year, was expected to leave Dhaka on Sunday to attend the first meeting of the newly-announced committee.

The 30-year old all-rounder is the first player from Bangladesh to be part of the esteemed committee and he is the only current player in the 14-member committee, chaired by former English batsman and commentator Mike Gatting.

‘Obviously, I’m very excited,’ Sakib told reporters in Mirpur.

‘This is a great honour for me as well as it is a great responsibility. There was none from Bangladesh in the previous meetings. So they might be less aware of our facilities and problems here in the past but now I can share these things with them,’ he said.

“The agendas that will be discussed have already been announced for the two-day meeting," he said.

Shakib confirmed that four-day Test is part of the agenda for the MCC meeting. The ace all-rounder was excited and believes that it is a great honour to be part of the MCC committee.
