ANAMUL,MAHADI GET BIG CENTURIE


Anamul Haque and Mahadi Hasan struck unbeaten centuries as Khulna tightened their grip on Dhaka on the second day of the National Cricket League final round in BKSP on Thursday.
Anamul hit an unbeaten 167 while Mahadi remained not out on 168 as the due helped Khulna reach 370-1 at stumps to take a lead of 257 over their struggling opponents.
Nasir Hossain’s unbeaten 101-run helped Rangpur to give Barisal a strong reply in the other tier-1 match, as they scored 264-4 replying to Barisal’s 335 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
In the bottom tier, Chittagong bowled out hosts Sylhet for 137 runs in the first innings for a 78-run lead before they reached 189-5 at close to extend their advantage to 267 runs.
Taijul Islam claimed 5-105 as host Rajshahi restricted Dhaka Metropolitan to 328 runs in their first innings before their openers Nazmul Hossain and Mizanur Rahman struck unbeaten 95-run stand to finish the day on a high.

Khulna v Dhaka

Resuming on 23-0, Khulna openers Anamul and Soumya Sarkar took Khulna to 89 before they lost their only wicket on the when Mohammad Sharif scalped Soumya for 30.
Anamul and Mahadi then added a record 281 runs for the second wicket, the highest in any wicket this year to extend Dhaka’s worry in the match.
Anamul struck his second ton in this year’s tournament and was heading towards his second first-class double hundred hitting 18 fours and four sixes so far.
Mahadi showed a lot more aggression on his way to his fourth first-class hundred as he batted like one-dayer to score 168 runs off 151 deliveries with 20 fours and two sixes before bad light forced early stumps.

Chittagong v Sylhet

Right-arm spinner Iftekhar Sajjiad claimed 5-43 as Chittagong made a light work of Sylhet’s batting to dismiss the side for 137 runs after they resumed on 54-3.
Chittagong, who scored 215 runs in their first innings, got a strong start in the second innings thanks to openers Sadikur Rahman (54) and Jashim (56), who put on 92 runs.
However, Sylhet bowlers came back strongly in the final session of the day, taking five crucial wickets to restrict Chittagong to 189-5 at close.

Rangpur v Barisal


Barisal lost Nuruzzaman for 58 early in the morning and could add 55 runs to their overnight 280-6 before they were dismissed for 335 runs in their first innings.
Subashis Roy, Ariful Haque and Tanvir Haider all claimed three wickets for Rangpur.
Rangpur were held to 81-3 before their two experienced campaigners Nasir and Naeem Islam added 104 runs for the fourth wicket to rescue them from the early damage.
Naeem, who made 54, became the third victim of left-arm spinner Monir Hossain but Nasir continued to score runs along with Ariful (34 not out) as the pair added unbeaten 79 runs.
Nasir scored his sixth first-class hundred and remained unbeaten on 101 runs off 167 balls with 12 fours and two sixes.

Dhaka Metro v Rajshahi

Metro lost their overnight unbeaten batsman Mohammad Ashraful (22) without scoring a run on the second over of the day as they resumed on 210-4 against Rajshahi.
Mehrab Hossain Jr. (39) and Jabid Hossain (36) also failed to convert their starts into big runs before Abu Hayder (27 not out) hit a cameo to lift Metro to 328. Taijul was the pick of the bowler with 5-105 as he claimed his 15th first class five wicket haul.
