HONOUR FOR BANGLADESH: SHAKIB AL HASAN INDUCTED IN MCC WORLD CRICKET COMMITTEE
Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan said on Thursday that he was
excited to get a chance to attend the prestigious MCC World Cricket Committee
meeting, scheduled to be held on January 9 and 10 at Sydney in Australia.
Sakib, who has been appointed as a member of World Cricket Committee of
Marylebone Cricket Club effective October 1 last year, was expected to leave
Dhaka on Sunday to attend the first meeting of the newly-announced committee.
The 30-year old all-rounder is the first player from Bangladesh to be
part of the esteemed committee and he is the only current player in the
14-member committee, chaired by former English batsman and commentator Mike
Gatting.
‘Obviously, I’m very excited,’ Sakib told reporters in Mirpur.
‘This is a great honour for me as well as it is a great responsibility.
There was none from Bangladesh in the previous meetings. So they might be less
aware of our facilities and problems here in the past but now I can share these
things with them,’ he said.
“The agendas that will be discussed have already been announced for the
two-day meeting," he said.
Shakib confirmed that four-day Test is part of the agenda for the MCC
meeting. The ace all-rounder was excited and believes that it is a great honour
to be part of the MCC committee.
